L-Spatz 55 incident near Concise with turbulent outlanding
On May 11, 1961, a Scheibe-Flugzeugbau GmbH L-Spatz 55 experienced an incident near Concise, Switzerland. The pilot encountered unexpected downdrafts and turbulence while attempting to return to Neuchâtel after a long flight. Unable to reach the airfield, the pilot decided to outland in a field east of Concise. During the final approach, the glider lost speed and control, resulting in a crash landing. The pilot sustained injuries, and the glider was destroyed.
