PW-5 strikes a tree in a turn while slope soaring low

While slope soaring low near Kötschach-Mauthen, a PW-5 struck a tree with its right wing in a turn and fell onto a forest track; the pilot was killed and the glider destroyed. The pilot had been towed off Nötsch im Gailtal for a cross-country and was flying low along the slope, about 200 m below the Jukbichl, when he began the turn.
