Incident Ka 8 à Blauen, Suisse : décès du pilote suite à une urgence médicale en vol

Le 4 avril 1965, un planeur Ka 8 a décollé de l'aérodrome de Dittingen pour un vol thermique près de Blauen, en Suisse. Environ 20 minutes après le largage, l'appareil est entré dans une descente en spirale incontrôlée et s'est écrasé dans des arbres sur le versant sud de Blauen. Le pilote a été retrouvé décédé sur les lieux, une autopsie confirmant une crise cardiaque fatale en vol. Le planeur a subi des dommages importants, et deux arbres ont été abattus lors des opérations de récupération.

1. Aerotow thermaling flight: The pilot aerotowed from Dittingen at 14:59 local time in Ka-8 HB-630 for a thermic soaring flight at the Blauen and released about 350 m above the airfield to begin circling in lift.
2. In-flight heart attack: While circling and gaining height over the south slope of the Blauen, the pilot suffered a sudden, rapidly fatal heart infarction that incapacitated him.
3. Uncontrolled spiral descent: Following the pilot’s incapacitation, the glider began descending in irregular, apparently uncontrolled spirals from its thermalling position over the south slope of the Blauen.
4. Crash - fatal: At about 15:20 local time the glider struck the treetops on the south slope of the Blauen and remained hanging in the trees, fatally injuring the pilot and heavily damaging the aircraft.
