Spalinger S 18 III collision during outlanding near Netstal, Switzerland
On July 11, 1965, a Spalinger S 18 III experienced an incident near Netstal, Switzerland. The pilot, who had 26 hours of flight experience, encountered difficulties during the landing approach after being caught in strong downdrafts. Despite attempts to return to Mollis airfield, the aircraft was unable to reach the runway and the pilot was forced to perform an outlanding. The glider collided with the roof of a factory building, resulting in total destruction of the aircraft. The pilot sustained minor injuries, while the building suffered light damage.
