L-Spatz incident near Segantinihütte, Pontresina: collision with terrain during ridge flight
On July 12, 1967, a Scheibe-Flugzeugbau GmbH L-Spatz glider was involved in an incident near Schafberg, Pontresina, Switzerland. The pilot, flying from Samedan airfield, encountered deteriorating lift conditions and collided with terrain near the Segantinihütte. The glider sustained significant damage, and the pilot suffered minor injuries. The official investigation confirmed that the incident resulted from flying too close to the terrain during ridge soaring.
