Am 27. Juli 1967 ereignete sich ein Vorfall mit einer Rhönlerche II während eines Trainingsflugs auf dem Flugplatz Grenchen in der Schweiz. Der Flugschüler, der einen Alleinflug durchführte, versuchte bei Seitenwind zu landen und geriet in einem niedrigen, langsamen Kurvenflug in einen Strömungsabriss.
