Außenlandungsvorfall der Elfe S-3 nahe Seebach, Deutschland ohne Verletzungen

Am 5. Juni 1972 erlebte die Elfe S-3 eine Außenlandung nahe Seebach, Deutschland während eines dreieckigen Streckenflugs. Der Pilot, der 523 Flugstunden Erfahrung hatte, blieb bei dem Vorfall unverletzt. Das Segelflugzeug wurde schwer beschädigt, als der linke Flügel am Rand eines hohen Getreidefeldes hängen blieb und einen Ringelpiez verursachte. Der Landeplatz wurde vom Piloten zunächst als geeignet eingeschätzt. Es gab keine Schäden an Dritten.

2. Need for outlanding: At about 14:20 MEZ, before reaching his planned goal near Seebach, the pilot was forced to perform an outlanding.
3. Unsuitable field chosen: The pilot selected a landing field that he recognized as unsuitable only at the last moment.
4. Wing catches crop edge: During the landing roll, the left wing caught on the corner of a 60 cm high grain field, disturbing the rollout.
5. Outlanding - damage: The glider ground-looped (cheval de bois), causing severe damage to the aircraft while the pilot remained uninjured and no third-party damage occurred.
