Elfe S4 collision during outlanding near Chenit, Switzerland
On July 18, 1982, a pilot flying a Neukom Elfe S4 attempted a local training flight over the Jura mountains. After struggling to find sufficient lift, the pilot decided to perform an outlanding in a nearby valley. During the landing, the aircraft collided with a large stone hidden in the grass, resulting in significant damage to the glider and serious injuries to the pilot. The pilot passed away on July 31, although his death was not directly attributed to the injuries from the accident. The official investigation confirmed the collision with the hidden obstacle as the cause of the accident.
