DG-100 accident near Winterthur following stall during instructional flight
On May 3, 1998, a DG Flugzeugbau DG-100 ELAN crashed approximately 1 km southeast of Winterthur Airfield in Switzerland. The pilot, who was undergoing an instructional flight, experienced a stall while turning at low altitude. Despite attempts by another pilot to guide him via radio, the glider entered a spin and impacted the ground, resulting in the pilot's fatality. The aircraft was destroyed upon impact, but no third-party damage occurred. The investigation noted that the pilot's limited flight experience contributed to the incident.
