ASH 26 E Absturz bei Bad Liebenzell nach Herzinfarkt des Piloten

Am 17. August 2002 stürzte eine Alexander Schleicher ASH 26 E nahe Bad Liebenzell, Deutschland, ab. Das Segelflugzeug führte Kunstflugmanöver durch, als es mit Bäumen kollidierte und in ein Waldgebiet stürzte. Der Pilot wurde bewusstlos im Cockpit gefunden und konnte nicht wiederbelebt werden. Eine Autopsie ergab, dass der Pilot kurz vor dem Absturz einen Herzinfarkt erlitten hatte. Das Segelflugzeug wurde zerstört, wobei die umliegende Vegetation nur geringfügig beschädigt wurde. Es wurden keine technischen Mängel am Flugzeug festgestellt.

2. Pilot heart attack: Around the time of the accident the pilot suffered an acute, medically caused heart attack, leading to incapacitation.
3. Uncontrolled descent: While performing aerobatic loopings near Bad Liebenzell-Unterhaugstett, the glider descended out of control and flew into the tops of trees.
4. Crash - fatal: At about 12:55 the glider struck a fir treetop at about 30 m height, then impacted almost vertically into mixed woodland, destroying the aircraft and fatally injuring the pilot.
